Dear His Excellency Sr. José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero:
I, the undersigned, write to urge you to do everything in your power to stop bullfighting and other cruel forms of “entertainment” that use bulls, such as the Running of the Bulls at the Festival of San Fermin in Pamplona. There’s no place in a civilised society for the torture and slaughter of animals for entertainment.
I am among the millions of people around the world who consider bullfighting to be a violent and cruel “sport” that ought to be illegal in Europe.
There is growing condemnation of bullfighting throughout Spain, across the EU and around the world. Please heed the 72 per cent of Spaniards who have no interest in bullfighting and would prefer their beloved country to be seen as a compassionate place that respects the lives of all its inhabitants.
The time has come to acknowledge that bullfighting is no longer acceptable to the vast majority of the Spanish population – or the rest of the world. By prohibiting bullfighting, you would be remembered forever as the leader who stopped the torture and slaughter of more than 40,000 bulls in Spain every year. I beseech you to use this opportunity to make history.
Please, do the same. Bullfighting and Pamplona MUST have an end.
natürlich hab ich das sofort unterzeichnet - es gibt kaum was abartigeres - außer vielleicht lebende Hummer in heißen Wasser zu schmeißen - einfach ABARTIG!
Oder Fischen bei lebendigem Leib den Schädel einzuschlagen. Die ja dann teilweise eine Stunde Todeskampf ertragen müssen, wenn man nicht RICHTIG feste draufhaut.
